Samsung seems to make steady progress in its next generation of mobile software, one onion 8, despite the global launch of one onion 7 that is still going on. According to a recent leakage, the Android 16-based operating system was seen on the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6, giving technical enthusiasts a first look at the future of Samsung’s custom interface. Design changes: Subtle, but polished leaked images shared by SmartPrix suggest that Samsung adheres to the overall design language established in one onion 7. The early build -up of one onion 8 shows only minor visual changes, mainly focused on improving the aesthetics of indigenous apps such as the file manager and gallery. The file manager now contains a redesigned category tab, which has a translucent background for a more modern and refined look. Similarly, the Gallery app is updated with a new interface where media categories such as ‘videos’, ‘favorites’, ‘recent’, ‘locations’ and ‘shared albums’ are displayed against a transparent background. These changes are probably intended to make the content easier to navigate, while adding a layer of visual sophistication. AI-ridden features of flagship devices can decrease one of the most striking revelations of the leak, the inclusion of a Galaxy Ai-stripped feature called Now Short, formerly exclusive to the Galaxy S25 series. The feature is reportedly providing a momentum of a user’s daily device interactions, health statistics and activity insights using a smooth card-style interface. If it is accompanied by bearable materials such as the Galaxy Watch or the upcoming Galaxy ring, the fitness and wellness data can now also integrate. The feature was seen on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 with the Build Number F956BXXU2Cyd7, which indicates a broader launch to other premium and potentially older Galaxy devices. More changes can occur, as the leaked version of One UI 8 is still an early building, more design -adjustments and new functions will be introduced before the official release will be introduced. Samsung has not yet announced a launch time line for the update. First published: 16 Apr 2025, 04:23 pm Ist
