"We’d f*ck it up" – ryan
Danny and Michael Philippou Rose to Stardom in 2023 when they released their first feature movie, Talk to me. Overnight, the siblings were in the Hollywood Spotlight and gained the attention they didnn’t have when they were known as the Youtuber Duo Rackaracka. The movie was successful enough to make them grow in the industry, and they eventually landed the gig to adapt a modern version of the video game Street fighter. However, they suddenly left the project, and back then, it was reported that it was due to “Scheduling conflicts.” Now the Phillippous have opened up and confirmed why they really abandoned their planned adaptation of the beloved video game franchise.
The Filmmaking Duo are now ready to release their next movie, the horror feature Bring Her Back. During a preview event for the movie, collider Caught up with the siblings and discussed their decision to stay within the confines of original, non-IP adaptations. The Subject or Street fighter were brought up, and it appears that it was not just a matter of their schedules conflicting that led them to drop out. Instead, the pair believed they could achieve more with their original movies, failing to “line up” street fighter against the projects they had in mind. Michael Phillippou Explained:
“We were developing big IP, it was not horror, but street fighter, and we were actually really excited for that. Developing that was a lot of fun, but just finding the time for it, it just didnnt Didnnntop Properly for us, and so we decided to focus on the original stuff.”

However, that was until sony pictures scrapped the project and removed it from the release slate last month. At present, plans for the Street fighter Movie remain a mystery.
Danny Phillippou thought they’d “f*ck it up”
Danny Phillippou added, “I think we’d f*ck it up,” when discussing their potential Street fighter Movie that would have revived the video game franchise. Of Course, this has happened before, with the 1994 live-action take on the video game being savagely panned by critics. Phillippou continued, saying:
“The IP stuff I would usually stay away from, not because I don’t want to do it but because I don’t want to f*ck it up … there’s things with such big, in-built audiences, I’d hate to let a whole bunch of people down, like ‘what the f*ck was that,’ ‘ sorry. ‘ That’s my nightmare, pissing off all these people, these dedicated fan members.
The Phillippou Brothers will make their horror comeback in 2025 with Bring Her Backthe mysterious horror movie that’s reuniting them with a24. The Independent Film Studio has also cut a deal to produce the upcoming Talk to me sequel Talk 2 Me. Michael Emphasized their excitement about doing original, smaller-sized projects that could ultimately give them the opportunity to reach for Bigger Movies:
“Through youtube we were able to get a lot of those narrower ideas out and onto the screen, all those little things like tiny set pieces and fight scenes … we’re able to do those things. The bigger ones, which have been bouiling in our heads for years, we haven’t bone. Opportunity to make them, we’re so thankful, because it will never leave your head until you make it … there’s so many original movie ideas we want to do that we kind of want to stick with that. “
