WhatsApp is quietly rolling out liquid glass look to iPhones: Here's what's changing

Apple’s Liquid Glass Design language will be implemented by WhatsApp as the business starts to roll out the new update of certain iOS users. Apple released the iOS 26 update to qualifying devices last month, which brought its new onion for liquid glass to different parts of the operating system. Since then, there have been rumors that WhatsApp could soon catch up and launch liquid glass-inspired animations on the app. Although Meta did not make an announcement about Liquid Glass’s launch to WhatsApp, several users on social media reported that the new onion was seen on the latest iOS building of WhatsApp. A Wabaainfo report also confirms that Liquid Glass rolls out to stable users with the WhatsApp for iOS version 25.28.75. Reportedly, the feature is currently available to some users and is rolled out to more users in the coming weeks. With the new update, WhatsApp will be able to adopt dynamic transparency, depth effects and fluid interactions corresponding to the overall aesthetics of iOS 26.What is new with liquid glass in WhatsApp? The most visible change with the WhatsApp fluid glass effects is the semi-transparent lower navigation bar, which is completely redesigned to reflect the iOS 26 design language. The beam contains a subtle blue behind the content, creating a sense of depth and layering. Each icon to the lower beam also reacts with smooth animations when typed, giving a flowing and interactive feeling. The glassy design also applies to other system tools such as the context menu and keyboard. In fact, WhatsApp eventually adopted the indigenous iOS keyboard with the new update, with a translucent, reflective design that fits in with the rest of the interface. It is said that the keyboard provides a visually consistent experience with keys that interact subtly with the background content to create a sense of depth. Meanwhile, other buttons in the app have also been redesigned to match the liquid glass style. They now have a modern visual experience similar to the lower navigation bar and also contain smooth animations that respond fluently when tapping.
