When the sacrifice of the rich became the right of the poor, an example of social justice arose, 80,332 people gave up food security

Nowadays, a social movement is being formed in Rajasthan, which is a symbol of both the government’s policy and the aging of civic consciousness. The “Give Up Campaign” run by the Department of Food and Civil Supplies has become another name for social justice and voluntary sacrifice in the state. This campaign not only brings transparency in the government system but also strengthens the sense of moral responsibility and sensitivity in the society. Rich people come forward and demand that what does not belong to them should be given to the poor. Background of the Campaign: Confluence of Service, Compassion and Social Equality Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, the state government started this campaign under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY), the main objective of which was to ensure the right to food for the needy. According to Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sumit Godara, this initiative is not just a government scheme but a moral people’s movement, in which participation of every section of the society is required. Godra says, “This Give Out campaign has proved that the spirit of service and kindness is alive among the people of Rajasthan. When an able-bodied person gives up his eligibility, he puts an ounce of food in the plate of a poor person.” Achievement across the state: 37.62 lakh indigent people voluntarily renounced food security. So far, 37.62 lakh people in the state, who are considered economically viable, have voluntarily given up the benefit of food security. Besides, more than 27 lakh people did not complete the e-KYC process, due to which their names were automatically removed from the list. In this way, a total of 65.25 lakh new eligible and deprived families were added under the Food Security Scheme, which can be called the biggest example of social redistribution for any state. Rajsamand’s example: 80,332 rich families showed tremendous courage. Rajsamand district has set an example for the entire state in this campaign. District Logistics Officer Vijay Singh said that till now 80,332 rich families in the district have voluntarily given up their right to food security. As a result of these vacant seats, 94,400 new eligible families were formed, giving a new identity to social justice in the district. These data show that even at the local level, people saw it not only as a government initiative, but as a human responsibility. Share this story Tags
