Who is Justice M. Sundar, who took an oath for the 10th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in Manipur

IMPHAL, SEPTEMBER 15 (IANS). Judge M. Sundar of the Madras High Court was sworn in as the 10th Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court on Monday. The curse -in -ceremony was held in the courtroom of Raj Bhavan in Imhal, where the governor of Manipur Ajay Kumar Bhalla did him the oath of office and secrecy. On this occasion, the Judge of the Manipur High Court, the speaker of the meeting Thokchom Satyabrat Singh, MLA, general secretary Puneet Kumar Goyal, Security Advisor Kuldeep Singh, director -general of police Rajiv Singh, senior administrative and judicial officials, representatives of advocate and military and police officers. The atmosphere of the ceremony was formal and worthy. Justice M. Sundar replaced Justice Kampayah Somasekhar, who was the 9th chief justice of the Supreme Court in Manipur. Judge Somasekhar was sworn in on May 22, 2025. His term remained about four months and retired on September 14, 2025. Once he retired, Justice Sundar took over as the new Chief Justice. Justice M. Sundar was born on July 19, 1966 in Chennai. He completed his five -year integrated legal course of Madras Law College and registered as a lawyer in 1989. During advocacy, he mainly specialized in civil matters and practiced in the Madras High Court. Between 2003 and 2006 he was also a permanent lawyer of the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board. He was appointed as a permanent judge of the Madras High Court on October 5, 2016 for his loyalty and intensive legal understanding for the work. While having a judge in the Madras High Court for almost nine years, he heard various types of important cases and made several important decisions. Recently, the Supreme Court college in his meeting on September 11 recommended Justice M. Sundar to appoint the Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court.
