An Air India flight to London that crashed Gatwick on Thursday afternoon during the take-off of Ahmedabad has described as one of the most serious aviation tragedies over the past few years. Actor Shah Rukh Khan expressed sadness about the incident and said he was “absolutely heartbreaking”. Shah Rukh took his X (formerly Twitter) account and wrote: “Absolutely heartbreaking with the news about the accident in Ahmedabad … My prayers for the victims, their families and all affected.” Several other celebrities in Bollywood also responded to the tragedy. Stars, including Akshay Kumar, Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Kangana Ranaut and Sonu Sood took on social media to share their condolences. Over the accident, the Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner, with 242 people, including passengers and crew, crashed into a densely populated residential area, minutes after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. In a statement on X, Air India said the flight transported 169 Indian citizens, 53 British citizens, seven Portuguese citizens and one Canadian. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also responded to the incident and called it “heartbreakingly beyond words”. He said: “The tragedy in Ahmedabad has stunned us and sad. It is heartbreaking above words. In this sad hour, my mind is that everyone has been affected by it. In contact with ministers and authorities working to help those affected.” Shah Rukh Khan, who recently made his debut at the Met Gala in an outfit by designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, was last seen in the movie *Dunki *.
