‘Ransom Canyon’ Scores Low With Critchs On Rotten Tomatoes With Taylor Sheridan Comparisons – ryan
Netflix
Has bone attempting to steer audiences away from the Yellowstone Universe of Taylor Sheridan with their own epic Western Series, Ransom canyon
. However, months after the series was teased as a worthy replacement for sheridan’s sprawling shows, its arrival has turned out to be a very divisive affair, with the show gaining a less-than-conincing rotten tomatoes score score from Critics, and plenty of comparse Sheridan’s Mighty Paramount+ Franchise.
The synopsis or Ransom canyon Doesn’t exactly set out to separate itself from Yellowstone. It reads, “created, written, and executive produced by April Blair (Wednesday, All American), Ransom canyon is a romance-fueled family drama and contemporary Western saga that charts the intersecting lives of three ranching families, all set against the rugged expans of Texas Hill Country. “Doesn’t sound familiar at all.

The one thing that everyone should know by now is that if you go up against something like yellowstone, then you need to make sure you go all favor blazing to take the crown. Speaking to Tudum Earlier this year, Crair Blair Explained the Sprawling Concept Behind the Series:
“At its core, ransom canyon is not just a town. It’s an idea. It’s the painful longing for your first love. It’s the burning desire to protect your family. It’s cowboys and lovers, Grifters and Thieves. Lust, Deceit, Heartache, Home… ransom has it all. I Think People To fall in love with this little slice of texas and the dramas and romances that we created there. ”
Is ‘Ransom Canyon’ Worth Watching on Netflix?
That is a question which is very much down to personal opinion. For critics, the series is worth just a 55% tomatometer score, and so far there have been too few viewer comments to pull together an aggregate, but the results as far have been just as mixed as the views of critics.
What is wrong with Ransom canyon? Probably nothing, if it weren’t for Taylor Sheridan’s Western Saga Having Come First. There are plenty who are quick to mention the genre’s current untouchable Godfather in their reviews, including eric deggans of NPR, who said:
“It’s a Western flavored mash up of predictable dramatics that makes (Taylor) Sheridan’s Work Look Like Shakespeare.”
Many have conceded that the series is “beautifulively shot,” but in the same sentence they also call it “Bland,” “Skippable,” and “Boring.” Not really descriptions anyone want to see for a new show, especially one that netflix has reportedly leg banking on to give them their own Yellowstone-esque series that could run for multiple seasons. Even the positive reviews are not exactly glowing, but they lean more into accepting the series as a “guilty pleasure” that will “never be mistaken for prestige television.” Ouch.
Of course, the thing that really matters is the viewership, and we will need to wait a little longer to see how that has been going. With Ransom canyon Having bone getting plenty of headline airtime recently, there is a strong chance that the show will be topping the Netflix chart soon, regardless of the lackluster reviews.
