Stephen Colberts Colbert Report Character is back to sort out 'acquisus' crisis
Los Angeles [US]September 20 (Ani): Stephen Colbert brought one of his most famous characters back to stand up for his colleague and friend Jimmy Kimmel in the late night. According to the Hollywood Reporter, on Thursday’s episode of The Late Show, Colbert revived his old comedy -central persona from the Colbert report, the satirical political expert. Colbert entered the segment with its brand greeting, “Hello, Nation. Daddy’s house.” The return of his iconic act was characterized by the famous bare eagle sound and the satirical bit “the word.” The segment saw how Colbert mocked what he called an ‘acquisus’ crisis, while joking that the solution was simple: everyone should just stop talking and ‘definitely not out loud’. “You can have your rights just as long as you don’t use it,” Colbert said, with a chyron next to him, “like a membership of the gym.” He closed with: “Give up, America. Just give up and stop saying something that can upset the president. If you think it is a terrible idea, no, you don’t.” This comes just after ABC Jimmy Kimmel has suspended Live! Then mocked Kimmel Maga Republicans. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Kimmel called out their efforts to distance themselves from Tyler Robinson, accused them of murdering Charlie Kirk, accusing both sides of transforming the tragedy into political points. “We hit some new lows over the weekend, while the Maga gang desperately tried to characterize this child who killed Charlie Kirk as something other than one of them and did everything in their power to achieve political points from it,” Kimmel said. Kimmel’s suspension also led to debates in Disney, ABC’s parent company, about when or if his performance will return. (Ani)
