Will the proposal for permanent appointment of 75% Agniveers be issued? Amid speculation, the military has 'milk of milk-water of water'

The Army has given clarification on the media report claiming that a proposal to make 75% of Agniveers permanent will be made in the Army Commanders’ Conference. The military described this report as completely false and based on speculation. The army said that the media report titled “Discussion in the meeting of army chiefs: Proposal to increase the recruitment rate of Agniveers from 25% to 75%” published on a news channel on October 23, 2025 is completely false. A statement issued by the army says such reports are not only misleading but also extremely irresponsible. The Army Commanders’ Conference is a confidential, closed meeting that is not discussed publicly. The Army has also made it clear that most of the issues mentioned in the report are wrong, including the issue of increasing the percentage of permanent appointments of Agniveers. The army said that this report was made only for sensationalism and had nothing to do with the truth. What was in the report? The report claims that some major issues will be discussed in the Army Commanders Conference to be held in Jaisalmer. It mainly included three points: First: A proposal to increase the permanent employment rate of firefighters from the current 25 percent to 75 percent. This means that currently only 25 percent of Agniveers get permanent jobs, which will increase to 75 percent. Second: Measures to further strengthen coordination and joint operations between the three services (Army, Air Force and Navy). Third: Review of the implementation of Mission Sudarshan Chakra, i.e. to determine how successfully the scheme is being implemented. The report said that these three issues will feature prominently on the agenda of the Army Commanders’ Conference. Share this story Tags
