India has criticized Pakistan for commenting on Waqf

New -Delhi, April 15 (IANS). India criticized Pakistan on Tuesday for ‘motivated and unfounded remarks’ over the WAQF bill and cited Pakistan’s ‘his poor record’ in terms of protecting the rights of minorities. In response to media questions about the remarks Pakistan made about the Waqf Bill, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Randhir Jaiswal said: “We reject the motivated and unfounded remarks Pakistan made about the Waqf Amendment Act approved by the Parliament of India. He said: “When it comes to protecting the rights of minorities, Pakistan should look at his own bad record instead of proclaiming others.” The Unified Waqf Management Act, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development, 2025 (Umed Act) was marked as a ‘significant turn’ in the reforms made in WAQF laws between 1913 and 2025 for social benefits from WAQF properties. The Ministry of Minority Affairs recently said in a position on social media: “Changes in WAQF laws in India from 1913 to 2025 reflect a strong effort for the safety and management of WAQF properties for the benefit of society. Each law aims to solve the existing problems while retaining the main purpose of WAQF.” The Government is of the opinion that the WAQF (Amendment Act 2025 is an important step in making WAQF management more transparent, responsible and inclusive. Many Indian leaders have removed the concerns and misunderstandings about the bill. Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, said: “The Waqf Amendment Bill is in the interests of Muslims.
