5 times Janet McTers master Shakespeare

Special features5 times Janet McTers master ShakespeareIn Bernhardt/Hamletthe Tony nominee of 2019 played half of the time Shakespeare – here are four other times she tackled the Bard.

Janet McIser John Marcus

Like Sarah Bernhardt in Theresa Rebeck’s Bernhardt/Hamlet, Janet McIser mastered two roles – Bernhardt and Bernhardt as the invincible hamlet – and earned a 2019 Tony award for it.

During the whole play, Bernhardt struggled to get into the minds of Shakespeare’s infamous Danish Prince. But McIser tamed both animals of a role at the same time. At the same time, Mcier brought an unparalleled nuance to stage.

The Actor says she focused on “[Bernhardt’s] Passion, her vulnerability, her desire to be herself, her desire to break the form, break out of the envelope, and do something a woman has never done before. “A task she thought impossible for.

“To embody her, all you can do is – I hope that I can embody a little of her spirit and somehow bring in it how frightening it must have been and how normal and small in a human way it must have been, and yet how wonderful she was,” says McT.

Audiences did a double duty as Bernhardt and Hamlet and saw McTer’s command of Shakespeare – if only in pieces. When asked on the opening night if there was another male Shakespeare role she wanted to adopt, she replied, “Darling, everyone.” Until she does this, remember our four other times she fully adopted the Bard of Avon.

Mctier has the role of misoginist Petruchio in the public’s 2016 female production of The pace of the shed for Shakespeare in the park. It was her second time in the role as she performed it in the Globe Theater in London.

Audrey, As you like it
This film was directed and adapted by Kenneth Branagh, and blessed Bryce Dallas Howard as Rosalind, Brian, as the Duke, and David Oyelowo as Orlando. Mcier may not have had a big role Non-Saudrey is one of the land girls-but she still inhabited the re-imagined world of Shakespeare.

Beatrice, Much about nothing
Mcier interpreted as Beatrice in the West End production of 1993 of this Shakespeare comedy. Benedick and Beatrice are deceived to confess their love for each other, Claudio is deceived to reject the hero, but Benedick and Beatrice Unite to correct things.

Hippolyta/Titania, A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Early in her career, McTere interpreted in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of 1986 from Midsummer. She played both Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons, and Titania, queen of the fairies.
