Guwahati, October 14 (IANS). Tanvi Sharma, Unnati Hooda and Rakshita SRI started the BWF World Junior Championships on a winning note at the National Center of Excellence on Tuesday. All four men’s singles also advanced to the next round. Top seed Tanvi defeated the Wiktoria Kaletka of Poland 15-2, 15-1 in 11 minutes, while the eighth seed Unnati easily defeated Hong Kong’s Liu Hi Anna 15-8, 15-9 in 23 minutes. After this, Rakshita Sri started her campaign by defeating Lucy Yang of Canada 15-5, 15-9. The seventh seed Thalita Wiryawan of Indonesia was the biggest loser in the girls singles. The Chinese Taipei’s Shu-Yu win returned from a match to win 12-15, 15-7, 15-8 in 34 minutes. In the Singles category, the 11th Seed Raunak Chauhan Thisath Rupathunga of Sri Lanka defeated 15-3, 15-6. The 15th Seed Suryaaksh Rawat defeated Turkey’s Yigitkan Eol 15-5, 15-8. Lalthazuala Hamar defeated Raylan Tan of America 15-11, 15-5. Gyan Dattu TT, along with his teammates, joined Joaquim Mendonca of Brazil 15-10, 15-13 in the round of 32 Gyan Dattu will face Suryaksh for a place in the conditions. India also faced a dismay in the single category. The Asian junior championship bronze medalist Vennala K lost 6-15, 5-15 in the second round against the fifth seed of Saheng of Thailand. In the mixed double events, the 14th Seeds Bhavya Chhabra and Vishakha Toppo defeated Ghiyan Sofyan and Salsabila Aulia of Indonesia 15-4, 13-15, 15-5. Manasa and Gayatri Rawat also reached the next round. The couple easily defeated Egypt’s Alya Elghandour and Fatima Rabie 15-3, 15-5. Anya Bisht and Angel Punera defeated Poland’s Victoria Kaletka and Olga Swarnowicka 15-12, 15-11 in the double Doubles category.
