A+ never for just one format. Will the Virat-Rohit BCCI contract?
Cricket News Desk. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma recently retired from Test cricket. This has led to a major change in Indian cricket. Both players are under BCCI’s A+ degree contract. Now he will be seen that he is just playing ODI cricket. The biggest question after Rohit and Kohli stepped out of the test was whether they would stay under the BCCI’s A Plus contract or not. BCCI secretary Devjit Saikia has now said that the contract of both for 2024/25 will be the same. There will be no change in the agreement between the two. Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are big stars of Indian cricket. His retirement created a void in the team. However, the BCCI has made it clear that there will be no change in their Grade A+ contract. He will continue to play for the team and they will get all the facilities. Secretary Saikia told Ani: “Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s Grade A (+) contract will continue, even after his retirement from the test.” He is still part of the Indian cricket team and gets all the facilities of Grade A (+). It was a wonderful career. The BCCI announced the list of players for 2024/25 in April. This included Kohli, Rohit, Jaspreet Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja in Grade A Plus. Kohli’s test career was excellent. He scored 9,230 runs in 123 tests on an average of 46.85. It includes 30 centuries. His best score was 254 runs. He is the fourth highest run for India in Test matches. In front of him are Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sunil Gavascar. Rohit also announced that Rohit Sharma also said goodbye to the Test cricket. He scored 4,301 runs in 67 games at an average of 40.57. It also contains the 12th century. His best score was 212 runs, which he scored against South Africa in 2019. He is the 16th highest run in tests for India. The two players also took a break from the T20I after helping India win the T20 World Championships in 2024. Kohli is the highest run writer in the T20 World Championship. He scored 1,292 runs. He is second in terms of T20 I runs with 4,188 runs. Rohit Sharma is the highest runner in T20I with 4,231 runs. He also recorded five centuries in this format, which is a record. Virat Kohli’s retirement came before India’s tour in England. The tour starts with the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle. Kohli, 36, played 123 Test matches and made several records. At the time, Indian Test team captain Rohit Sharma also stepped out of the test to a constant poor performance. He played 67 Test matches and scored 4.301 runs. Both of these players gave a lot to Indian cricket. His retirement will change the team. But the BCCI ensured that they were honored for their contribution. Their grade A+ contract is proof of this.
