World Para Athletics Championship: Shailesh Kumar won gold medal in high jump

New -Delhi, September 27 (IANS). Shailesh Kumar won the gold medal in the men’s high jump -T63 final at the World Para Athletics Championships 2025. He performed a new personal best by jumping 1.91 meters and improving his personal best performance. He opened the report of India’s medals in the ongoing tournament at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. After winning the gold medal, Shailesh Kumar said: “We came here ten days ago and felt good to win the gold medal in front of the domestic audience. The target was always great. The Brazilian Gomes de Mendonca Recordio set a new championship record of 11.25 seconds, dominating all three heat. All eight worthy athletes will compete for a medal in the final on September 28, 2025. In the final of the Men’s Shot -F37 event, Indian athlete Manu ninth finished with a 13.43 -meter throw, which was less than her individual best 14.09 meters. Kanchan Lakhani finished fifth in the final of the Women’s Discus Throw F53 event with a 9.68 meter throw.
