Seoul, September 21 (IANS). Poland’s leading seed Ega Swiytech defeated Ekaterina Alexedrova 1-6, 7-6 (3), 7-5 in 2 hours 41 minutes in Korea’s final on Sunday to win another title on the WTA tour. Swiyatech won the third season and the 25th title of his career. His record in the WTA final is 25-5. Swatech said: “First, I would like to congratulate Ekaterina on a wonderful week and a wonderful final. To be honest, I don’t know how I won it because she played brilliantly. I just tried to continue my game. Hopefully we will play more finals because it’s hard to play against them, but interesting.” Alexedrova made a strong start and won the first set in just 30 minutes. Swatech overturned at the beginning of the second set and immediately broke the service of Alexedrova. The two then maintained a grip on each other to the binding break, where Swiyatech appeared under control for the first time in the match. The former winner of the world no. 1 and Grand Slam took a 3-0 lead, expanding it to 5-2 and winning Tybreak 7-3 to reach the decisive set. At the beginning of the third set, Swatech gave Alexedrova a break by failing three double mistakes in a single game and led by 2-1. But he returned and made the set 3-3 in the next match. After that, the pressure of the scoreboard began to work in favor of Swiytech and eventually came up as champions. Poland’s Swiytech won the Grand Slam singles six times. She won four French Open and Wimbledon-Us Open 1-1 time. -Ians pack/ share these story tags
