PM Modi Open Asia's widest aunt-Simaria bridge of Asia: 5 Interesting facts about Bihar's new landmark
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the widest six-lane of Asia, 1.86 km-long aunt-Simaria bridge, built at a cost of over £ 1,870 crore, on the Ganga River. This will connect Aunt Ghat in the Patna district’s Mokama with Simaria in Begusarai. The modern bridge of 34 meters is now the widest excited cable stays in India and one of the most modern in Asia. Union Minister Giriraj Singh regarded the project as a ‘milestone in Bihar’s development’. He also said that the bridge supplements other central projects such as the NTPC plant and the new fertilizer unit in Begusarai. 5 Key features of the Aunt Simaria Bridge 1-Aunt Simaria Bridge are 1.86 km long and 34 meters wide. It is built on National Highway 31 on the Ganga River, parallel to the Rajendra Setu. The segment lengths are 57–115 meters with cantilever arms up to 70 meters. 2-The six pioneering will reduce the travel time and distance by up to 100 km, especially for cargo carriers. Earlier, they had to take longer routes as a result of the closure of Rajendra Setu for heavy vehicles. The bridge will benefit the people of Begusarai, Supaul, Madhubani, Purnea and Araria in the north, and Patna, Sheikhpura, Nawada and Lakhisarai in the south. 3-The bridge would be a catalyst for economic development in Bihar. Industrial hubs such as Barauni would see smoother transportation of goods, logistics costs would lower, and farmers, especially Makhana producers from North -Bihar, will access the markets faster. 4-The Briidge Construction could only be completed after the engineering challenges have overcome, as the entire stretch lies in a flood-sensitive, low-lying zone. Civil engineers have used modern extra-teaching technology to ensure durability and smoother movement of vehicles. 5-The Aunt Simaria Bridge would strengthen Bihar’s cultural and social ties. It improves access to the most important religious website Simaria Dham, also a birthplace of Hindi poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar. It will also integrate the North and South Bihar more closely.
