Zubeen Garg should be cremated with full state capacity on September 23, says CM Sarma: 'The choice of his family is priority'
Zubeen Garg, who allegedly died due to drowning after a diving accident on September 19 in Singapore, will be cremated with full state ability, said Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The chief minister said that Zubeen Garg would be cremated in a village near Guwahati on Tuesday, September 23. Himanta Sarma, who announces the decision to cremate Zubeen Garg in a town, said it was taken according to his family’s wishes. There were also demands of the people of the Upper Assam City Jorhat, where the singer spent his forming years, that he was cremated there, he said. “We both discussed the proposals. Zubeen does not belong to the government, and therefore the choice of his family should take precedence,” said Himanta Biswa Sarma. Himanta Sarma said the Singaporean government issued a death certificate saying that Zubeen died due to drowning. “The Indian High Commission in Singapore sent us the death certificate, and we also requested that the postmortem report be sent to us as early as possible,” Himanta Biswa Sarma added. Since the passing of Zubeen Garg has been announced, there has been an outpouring of sadness and emotions. Hundreds of people met at Arjun Bhogewar Baruah sports complex in Guwahati to take a look at the singer. The fans cried irresistibly while offering flowers at the mortal remains of Zubeen Garg.
