Australia Moves India To Highest-risk Category For Student Visas | Spotlight

Australia has tightened its student visa rules, placing India in the highest-risk category under its visa assessment system from January 8. The move means stricter scrutiny for Indian student visa applicants, including additional documents, detailed financial checks and longer processing times. Along with India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan have also been moved to the highest evidence level. Officials say the decision is aimed at addressing emerging integrity issues, while continuing to support genuine students. With around 140,000 Indian students currently studying in Australia, the changes could impact thousands of future applicants planning to study there.
