Golden Globes’ silent tribute to the ‘good lady’: Who was Renee Good, the Minneapolis woman killed by an ICE agent? – Firstpost

Renee Good was a 37-year-old mother of three who had just moved to the city and was shot dead by a federal immigration agent in Minneapolis. A prize-winning poet and a hobby guitarist, who city leaders have said was there as a legal observer of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activities. But the Trump administration has called her a ‘domestic terrorist’.

Tim Ganger, told the Washington Post that, “she had a fine life, but a hard life.” Her mother, Donna Ganger, according to reports had to say that her daughter was ‘probably terrified” during the confrontation with officers that saw her fatally shot and that she was “one of the kindest people I’ve ever known”.

Celebrities, including Mark Ruffalo and Wanda Sykes, made a statement on the Golden Globes red carpet on January 11, sporting pins with messages like “Be Good” and “ICE Out”, as they entered the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles on Sunday night. The pins showed the solidarity of Hollywood stars with the people who have been targeted amid the immigration crackdown in recent months by the US agents.

Soft protest for the ‘Good Lady’ by Hollywood stars at the Golden Globes

Mark Ruffalo and Wanda Sykes, made a statement on the Golden Globes red carpet on January 11, sporting pins with messages like “Be Good” and “ICE Out”, as they entered the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles on Sunday night. Speaking to USA Today at the red carpet of the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, Ruffalo stated, “This is for Renee Nicole Goode, who was murdered.” Proceeding to call out US President Donald Trump, he declared, “We’re in the middle of a war with  Venezuela that we illegally invaded. He’s telling the world that international law doesn’t matter to him. The only thing that matters to him is his own morality, but the guy is a convicted felon or convicted rapist.”
