Donald Trump did not conquest a second term as US president to make China great, but that is exactly what he has done in the past year, states a survey for the European Council on Foreign Relations. His ‘Make America Great Again’ approach is actually helping China become greater, notes the survey.
The survey, which included about 26,000 participants across 21 countries, showed that most people believe China will wield greater global influence in the coming decade. “A year on from Trump’s return, in countries across the globe, many people believe China is on the verge of becoming even more powerful,” the report stated.

According to the think tank, the US under Trump is perceived as less feared by traditional adversaries, while relations with allies, particularly in Europe, have weakened. It further noted that Russians consider the European Union as more of a threat than the US, while Ukrainians are looking more to Brussels than to Washington for support.
