A United Airlines flight avoided a crash landing at Orlando International Airport following a mechanical glitch, Fox 35 reported, citing an airline official. The Airbus A321, carrying 200 passengers and six crew members from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport to Orlando, blocked the runway after experiencing trouble during landing, forcing passengers to evacuate the aircraft immediately.

Videos that went viral on social media showed the aircraft losing its front wheel during the landing. No injuries were reported, and all passengers were safely evacuated.

Following the technical issue, United Airlines arranged buses to transport passengers to the airport terminal. The airline also deployed multiple teams to remove the aircraft from the runway, News on 6 reported.

Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting personnel rushed to the scene after the incident. The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop due to the aircraft emergency, which was later downgraded to a ground delay. Several flights were delayed as a result.

The cause of the mechanical glitch remains unknown. However, weather conditions may have played a role, with Orlando experiencing rainy, windy and cold conditions on Sunday.

According to Fox 35, wind gusts reached 54 mph at Orlando International Airport, while the nearby Orlando Executive Airport recorded gusts of 56 mph. The National Weather Service later issued a high wind warning for several parts of Brevard County along Florida’s east coast.
