US vs Iran: How the Two Militaries Stack Up Against Each Other | Firstpost America

Tensions between the United States and Iran are escalating after President Donald Trump warned of possible military action against Tehran, prompting sharp retaliation threats from Iran’s leadership. As unrest continues inside Iran, attention is now on how the two militaries compare. While Iran ranks among the world’s top 20 military powers, its forces, budget and equipment are vastly smaller than those of the United States. America leads in troop strength, defence spending, air power and naval dominance, giving it overwhelming conventional superiority. Iran, however, relies on asymmetric capabilities such as missiles, speedboats, submarines and regional proxy forces, which allow it to disrupt shipping routes and destabilise the Middle East. Any confrontation, even limited, could have serious regional and global consequences.
