On Friday, 18 children suffering from fever were admitted to the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) of the district hospital. Due to falling temperature, the market of woolen clothes has also heated up. The district hospital was full of patients on Friday. There was a long line at both the men’s and women’s counters. A total of 970 patients were registered on this day. In this, the number of patients suffering from cold, cough, fever, stomach cramps, vomiting and diarrhea was 198. There was a queue of patients and attendants in every OPD (out-patient department) of paediatricians. Mothers stood in line with their small children. The ward boys would call the patients one by one. After this, doctors were seen weighing the children, checking their health and giving medicine as per requirement. In this, 18 children suffering from severe fever were admitted to the ICU of the district hospital. At the same time, after increasing cold and melting in Maharajganj, Farenda, Nichlaul and Nautanwa areas, people’s daily routine has also started getting affected. The speed of vehicles slowed down due to fog in the morning and evening. With the increasing cold, the woolen market has heated up again in Maharajganj. Woolen clothing shops have come up in the markets of Saxena Chowk, College Road, Gorakhpur, Partawal, Farenda, Nichlaul, Nautanwa, Sonauli etc. of the city. Shopkeepers are also overwhelmed by the rush of customers at the shops. There is a glow on his face about good business. According to local shopkeeper Rakesh Kumar, there is a high demand for monkey caps starting from Rs 100, sweaters ranging from Rs 200 to Rs 300 and jackets ranging from Rs 400 to Rs 3,000. An increase of 30-40 percent has been seen in the sales of attractive sweaters, socks and gloves, especially for children. Many sales are organized in the main market of the city, where jackets are available for Rs 200 and woolen cuts for Rs 100 to 200, due to which poor-middle class families get warm clothes at cheap rates. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Shrikant Shukla said that people should be careful during the cold season. All the medicines needed are available at the district hospital and community health centres. Doctors were told to provide better medical facilities to the patients. Take these precautions: Dress children in warm clothes (hat, socks, gloves) in cold weather. Massage with lukewarm oil.
