When the department did the verification, their truth came to light. Now their applications have been cancelled. More than 18 thousand applications have been rejected so far in the current financial year, including some cases due to Aadhaar mismatch. The department has given instructions to thoroughly investigate the applications in all the districts. Remove Advertisement Only Read News The state government has been running the chief minister mass marriage scheme since 2017 for the marriage of daughters from poor families. Recently the expenditure on the marriage of a girl has been increased from Rs 51 thousand to Rs one lakh. In this, 60 thousand rupees are sent directly to the girl’s account and goods worth 25 thousand rupees are given to the couple as a gift, while 15 thousand rupees are spent on the occasion. The annual income limit has been increased from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 3 lakh. The government has also increased the annual income limit for qualification from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 3 lakh. The process of taking applications and organizing marriage ceremonies is underway in the districts. According to the social welfare department, more than 1.20 lakh applications have been received so far against the target of marriage of 57 thousand girls set for the current financial year. Cases of irregularities have come to light after the event has been organized in the past, which is why the department is putting more emphasis on verification. Under this process applicant girls were found married in many districts including Bareilly, Sonbhadra, Baghpat. Deputy Director in charge of the scheme, RP Singh, said that till now more than 21 thousand applications have been approved and 14 thousand girls have been married. The applications of those who are not eligible during verification are rejected, among others there are also cases of applications from married women. Every application is verified.
