The women accepted their mistake and promised not to behave like this in the future. Local people say that such incidents at a religious place like Har Ki Pauri have hurt the sentiments of the devotees. Many devotees come with their families for aarti or bath, and the atmosphere of fighting and commotion mars the dignity of the place. East Champaran, October 31 (IANS). Chiraiya seat of East Champaran is considered a strong stronghold of BJP in Bihar Assembly elections 2025, where irrigation, flood control and migration are the major issues. Chiraiya is a seat with an agriculture-based economy. Bagmati river is a boon but lack of irrigation is bothering the farmers. This helps during the rainy season, but the rest of the time there is a lack of water storage and distribution. Youth migrate to Delhi, Mumbai and Punjab in search of work. Education, health and road connectivity are poor. Being close to the India-Nepal border, there are also problems with smuggling and illegal entry. Chiraiya Assembly Constituency came into being after delimitation in 2008. It includes Chiraiya and Patahi blocks. So far three elections have been held (2010, 2015, 2020) and BJP has won all three times. In 2010, Avnish Kumar Singh defeated RJD by 14,828 votes. By suspending Singh for opposing Narendra Modi’s PM candidacy in 2015, BJP gave an opportunity to Lal Babu Prasad Gupta. Despite JDU’s split from NDA and alliance with RJD, Gupta saved the victory by 4,374 votes. Gupta defeated RJD by 16,874 votes when JDU returned to NDA in 2020. In 2025, BJP once again expressed confidence in Lal Babu Prasad Gupta. Chiraiya also shows the strength of the BJP-JDU alliance in the East Champaran Lok Sabha seat. In this, JDU got a lead of 21,888 votes in 2009, 4,374 in 2014, 54,972 in 2019 and 8,490 votes in 2024. If we look at the geographical location, the major centers are the district headquarters Motihari (2520 km), Kmiya Raxka (25 km), Kmiya Raxa (25 km) (40 km) and Muzaffarpur (90 km). On the Nepal side, Birgunj, Gaur and Janakpur are nearby. According to the Election Commission data, the total population of the area is 5,08,987, of which 2,68,201 are males and 2,40,786 are females. Motihari constituency of East Champaran district of Bihar is not only the historical city of the freedom struggle but has also become a major battleground in the 2025 elections. The name of Motihari is associated with the freedom struggle. The city, once the headquarters of the united Champaran district, was divided into East and West Champaran in 1972. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, who returned from South Africa in 1917, started the first Satyagraha against the indigo cultivation imposed by the British owners here. This rebellion against the exploitation of farmers was not only local, but three decades later also became the foundation of India’s independence. It is said that ‘Had Champaran not existed, Gandhi would not have become a Mahatma.’ Even today, Gandhi Ashram, Bhitiharwa and Neelha monuments remind tourists of history. This legacy creates a sense of pride in voters, who expect justice and development from candidates. According to the Election Commission data, the total population of the assembly constituency is 5,45,580, of which 2,87,014 are males and 2,58,566 are females. The number of voters is 3,31,575, of which 1,76,024 are men, 1,55,542 are women and 9 belong to the third category. This rural-dominated seat had a voter turnout of 59.67 percent (2020), making the role of youth and women voters crucial. The issues in the area are rural, including flood control, erosion of the Gandak River, unemployment, migration (75 lakh Biharis are out) and agricultural distress. Patna, October 31 (IANS). Chenari assembly constituency, situated on the south-western border of Rohtas district of Bihar, has a distinct identity in politics. Sasaram seat is one of the six assembly constituencies under the Lok Sabha. This area mainly consists of Chenari, Rohtas and Nowhatta blocks along with a few gram panchayats of Sivasagar block. Its territory is spread in Sasaram and Dehri subdivisions. This area is a reserved assembly seat for Scheduled Castes (SC). Sasaram is located 23 km east of Chenari, Bhabua is 30 km west, Mohania is 35 km northwest and Nokha is 40 km northeast. Durgavati River flows near this area, while Son River is located about 30 km away. Both rivers are lifelines for agriculture and water supply. A large part of Chenari lies on the Rohtas Plateau, which forms part of the eastern end of the Vindhyachal mountain range. Due to this hilly structure, the implementation of large irrigation projects here is challenging. The history of Chenari is linked to the reign of Sher Shah Suri. Shergarh Fort, located about 13 kilometers southwest of here, is the historical identity of this area. According to historians, this fort was either built during the time of Sher Shah or renovated during his reign and used as a defensive fort. This area was once important from administrative point of view from Magadha Empire to Sur rule. Chenari is a rural dominated and underdeveloped area. Lack of health services is the biggest problem. Some of the roads here are dilapidated, due to which connectivity between towns is poor. Education and employment opportunities are also limited, due to which the youth migrate. Due to the hilly terrain, irrigation and agricultural production are also uneven. Rural people are constantly demanding sustainable development and better access to government schemes. Since its inception in 1962, Chenari’s politics have been influenced by socialist ideology. The people here have long maintained distance from left and right parties. In the 16 parliamentary elections held so far (including the 2009 by-election), the Congress has won this seat 6 times, while other parties have won 10 times. Among these JDU won 3 times and Janata Dal won 2 times. Apart from this RJD, Hindustani Samajwadi Party, Janata Party, Lok Dal and RLSP won 1 time each. In the 2020 election, Murari Prasad Gautam of Congress won this seat by defeating Lalan Paswan of JDU. However, later he left Congress and joined BJP. According to the Election Commission data of 2024, Chenari has a total population of 5,34,772, which includes 2,75,349 males and 2,59,423 females. At the same time, the total number of voters is 3,15,790, which includes 1,64,324 men, 1,51,460 women and 6 third gender voters. Paswan and Ravidas communities play a crucial role in Chenari. In this series, the district administration team conducted a surprise inspection and raid campaign in the Special Central Jail, Bhagalpur on Friday morning at around 5 am.
