Jakarta – The West Java Provincial Government today officially held the inauguration of the Board of Commissioners of the All-Indonesian Regional Secretary Forum (Forsesdasi) for the West Java region. This event also concluded the 2025 NGO summit series and was followed by the signing of the annual work plans (AWP) of a number of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) by the regional secretaries. This inauguration strengthens the strategic role of the regional secretary in the regional development ecosystem, as stated in the West Java Regional Commissioner’s Forsesdasi Decree No. The event was also followed by the presentation of West Java sub-district synergy awards and capacity building for regional secretaries. The regional secretary of the West Java province, Herman Suryatman, emphasized that this inauguration strengthens the regional secretary’s strategic position in regional development. Because he sees Forsesdasi as an important forum to unite the regional secretaries so that they work more adaptively and integrated. He continued, the professionalism of the regional secretary as the spearhead must be combined with experience in the field and reference to data. Therefore, according to him, the regional secretary should continue to exchange information and data, including through activities held at UID. “To maintain professionalism, it must be based on art, on the one hand it is based on experience, but it must also be science-based. Because government is art and science. From the art side we may rely on understanding, but from the science side we must constantly update, exchange information, exchange data, build, including through today’s meeting at UID,” he said. Meanwhile, the head of the West Java Provincial Secretariat’s organization, Yulia Dewita, explained that her party designed the inauguration of this Forsesdasi from the beginning so that it would have strategic value for the staff. That’s why (this event) was combined with activities that can strengthen the capacity and coordination of the regional secretaries,” he explained. Dewi added that the series of capacity building and discussion forums then provided space for policymakers to share practices and develop more mature plans. “We have data, we can share data together, share experiences, best practices of each district/city. By collecting and sharing, it is a form of cooperation to formulate better things in the future,” he said. On the other hand, the Vice President of United in Diversity, Suyoto, emphasized that the regional secretary must have high adaptability to align leadership dynamics with community needs. “I believe it requires a lot of adjustment and a lot of tips. In addition, the sub-district head and regional secretary are the spearheads. How to align the leadership dynamics with the community population so that the management process is better,” he said. Thus, rather than being just a mere ceremonial event, the inauguration of Forsedasi has become an essential platform for regional secretaries to improve the quality of leadership and management of their regional government. “The All-Indonesian Regional Secretary Forum is not a forum for small talk.
