Bosch finished the game with a lot of maturity.” He said: “This match was amazing. I think it was a record chase. It showed how difficult it is to play against this Indian team. I came to the field with Aiden, he hit the ball and I tried to form a partnership with him. We can take confidence from this. No recommendation for re-polling in first phase of Bihar elections: Election Commission

Second phase of SIR: Rajasthan tops the country with 99.5 percent digitization.

Jaipur, December 3 (IANS). After Bihar, special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is taking place in 12 states of the country. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has achieved another important milestone in the second phase of SIR. Meanwhile, Rajasthan has bagged the first position in digitization of EF. According to the latest information given by the Commission, digitization of more than 47.5 crore i.e. more than 93 percent of Enumeration Forms (EF) across the country has been completed. Under this campaign, forms have been delivered to 99.83 per cent i.e. more than 50.88 crore voters in the ongoing comprehensive voter verification work in 12 states and union territories. Chief Electoral Officer Naveen Mahajan said that out of the total 5.46 crore counting forms, more than 5.43 crore were uploaded on ECI-Net due to which 99.5 percent counting was completed before the scheduled time. This extraordinary progress reflects Rajasthan’s strong digital infrastructure and well-organized regional coordination, demonstrating how technology and grassroots efforts can work well together. Rajasthan is also leading in voter mapping, where the state has completed more than 95 percent of the total mapping. Notably, nine assembly constituencies Kapasan, Baytu, Salumber, Lohawat, Nagar, Sikri, Osian, Shahpura and Bamanwas crossed the 99 per cent mapping mark. Kapasan leads the way, where 99.46 percent of the 2.73 lakh voters have been mapped, meaning only about 1,500 persons now have to submit documents during the amendment process. Mapping ensures better accuracy, better voter services and smooth voter list verification without any additional paperwork. This progress is the result of the efforts of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) working at 46,000 polling stations. Rajasthan has also emerged as the best performing state in digitization where Barmer, Salumber, Balotra, Jhalawar, Phalodi, Bharatpur, Churu, Dausa and Baran have achieved 100 percent digitization and become models for the country. He emphasized that SIR is not just a data-based process but a collective responsibility that must be carried out with honesty, transparency and accuracy. Rajasthan’s demonstration is an important milestone in creating a more accurate, voter-friendly and technologically advanced electoral roll. –IANS Ms/abm

China was once so poor, this part is uprooted, suffered foul insult for 99 years

Last Updated: December 3, 2025, 16:59 IST The panic of the Jinping government, which threatens those who question the fire in Hong Kong, is hidden in history. This island has been a weak point of China for centuries, which China was forced to pledge for 99 years. After that China took it back but the people here could never tolerate the rule of the dragon. Protests against the government are very common here. China is a weakness. Hong Kong suffered such a massive fire in an apartment complex in Hong Kong that 140 lives were lost while trying to put it out. After this accident many questions started to arise, people want to know how this fire got so big? An angle of corruption also came to light in this…but the Chinese government got scared even before the public could face these questions and announced that questioning this incident would be considered treason, and made many arrests to scare them. This nervousness of Jinping is not new, the history of Hong Kong makes it China’s ‘greatest weakness’. How was Hong Kong pulled out of ‘weak China’? China pledged a large part of Hong Kong, called the ‘New Territories’, to Britain. China did not enter into this agreement because of any mutual benefit, but out of coercion. In a way, Britain wrested Hong Kong from China at gunpoint. In the 19th century, Britain made China an opium addict. When China protested against this, Britain started two terrible wars – ‘Opium Wars’ and in both China suffered a shameful defeat. After this, in 1842, Britain imposed the ‘Treaty of Nanking’ on China and took possession of Hong Kong. Not only that, in 1860 China also had to hand over part of the ‘Kowloon Peninsula’ to Britain. What’s the deal with 99 year lease? In 1898, Britain took advantage of China’s weakness, under the pretext of protecting Hong Kong, and took the ‘New Territories’ on a 99-year lease from China’s Qing Dynasty. This lease ended on 1 July 1997, but Britain accepted that Hong Kong Island and Kowloon belonged to it forever. When China showed its eyes, a new conflict arose between China and Britain. At the time, China said in strong words that the treaties imposed by Britain were humiliating and could no longer be accepted. At that time, British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher reached Beijing and had a direct confrontation with Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping. China has made it clear that if Hong Kong is not returned, China will not hesitate to seize it. Britain’s king was left in tears. Eventually Britain had to bow and in 1984 both signed the ‘Sino-British Joint Declaration’. According to this, Hong Kong was given the arrangement of ‘one country, two systems’. Under which it is guaranteed to maintain its capitalist system and high level of autonomy for another 50 years (until 2047). At midnight, when it rained heavily, the British flag was lowered and the red flag of China was raised. It is said that moisture was visible in Prince Charles’ eyes at that time. Why couldn’t China win the hearts of the people here? Hong Kong’s struggle did not end here, China got this island but the hearts of the people living here have not yet joined China. During that time, more than half of the population of Hong Kong left their homes out of fear and took refuge in countries such as Canada and Australia. They were afraid that the Communist government of China would impose dictatorship on them. Even today, protests are taking place in Hong Kong against China’s monarchical ideology. SHO Hamir Singh has been suspended and the investigation of the case has been handed over to ADCP West. Chandrashekhar Vyas Jedhpur. The case of misconduct with an advocate in Kudi Bhagatasani Housing Board police station in Jodhpur city has become the biggest news of the state. The dispute, which started late on Monday evening, soon reached the Supreme Court, where the head bench took suo motu notice and summoned the police commissioner and issued strict directions. The series of incidents continued rapidly throughout the day in Jodhpur on Tuesday, including the violent agitation by advocates, the siege of the police station, trial in court and finally the suspension of SHO Hamir Singh and Reader Narendra. This matter was not just a dispute over a police station but raised serious questions about the conduct of the police in the state. The dispute broke out late on Monday evening when advocate Bharatsingh Rathore and a woman advocate reached the police station to record the statement on behalf of the rape victim. It is alleged that a policeman took statements without uniform. When the lawyers objected, there was a heated argument and scuffle between the police station officer Hamir Singh and the lawyers. In the viral video, the alleged words of the SHO – ‘What if he is a lawyer, I will now turn him in 151, all advocacy will go away’ – are clearly heard. After this, the lawyers gathered outside the police station late at night and went on strike. As the night progressed, so did the anger of the advocates. After midnight the crowd continued to grow and the siege of the police station began. By Tuesday morning, the number of lawyers increased and they intensified their demand for suspension of the entire police station staff, including the SHO. Both lawyers’ organizations have also decided to boycott judicial work in the high court and lower court. The situation in the city remained constantly tense. Supreme Court’s response: As soon as the morning broke, the case reached the main bench of the Rajasthan High Court. The division bench of Chief Justice SP Sharma and Justice Baljinder Singh, after watching the viral video, termed it a grave misconduct by the police. The court summoned Police Commissioner Omprakash Paswan. Senior advocate Sachin Acharya presented the case on behalf of the victim advocate and the video was played in the court. The court ordered all the policemen present at the time of the incident to line up, issued notices of 16 CC, completed the investigation and submitted the report in the court. The commissioner also admitted in court that the lawyer had misbehaved. Suspension and future preparations: The anger of the advocates outside the police station reached its peak. The effigy of SHO Hamir Singh was burnt outside the police station and the lawyer remained adamant on the demand for suspension. Additional Advocate General Mahavir Bishnoi acted as a bridge between the two parties and took the talks forward. Late in the evening, the police commissioner gave assurances in the court and suspended SHO Hamir Singh and Reader Narendra. While the matter moved to be calmed, this incident also gave rise to a serious debate about the effectiveness of police behavior in the state. Future Improvement: After the court’s reprimand, the Police Headquarters has started preparations to improve the soft skills and behavioral efficiency of police officers and staff across the state. Officers will join online training sessions at scheduled times so that such incidents do not recur in the future. About the author Anand Pandey Name is Anand Pandey.
