Furthermore, he added that the president’s priority programs such as Free Health Checkups, Red and White Subdistrict/Village Cooperatives, and People’s Schools are intended for all Indonesian people, one of which is that women in coastal areas can access free health checkups at government health facilities. “It is a guarantee of the government, a service of the government to greet all mothers,” he added. At the same event, Arifatul also had a dialogue with women shellfish breakers who received training from the Ashoka Foundation. One of them is Dwi Junianti who shared stories about the ups and downs of working as a shell breaker earning around IDR 60 thousand a day. “I peel every day if the shellfish is dirty, 1 blas (big pot) is IDR 25 thousand. If the shellfish is good, and there is a lot of meat, there is an increase of IDR 30 thousand. So at most you can get 2 cubes a day, at least 1 bong,” said Dwi. He said that if the weather at sea is not good, fishermen do not go to sea, so sometimes they cannot break shellfish. Apart from that, another obstacle is that when flooding occurs around the floating house, no one can carry out activities and health problems such as itching occur. Meanwhile, Rosy, a representative of mothers from the coastal area of RT 07, said that when they were busy breaking shells, the children at home were less supervised. He hopes there will be learning and play facilities for children that are easily accessible. “While they clean up, there might be a safe and comfortable place for their children,” said Rosy. Responding to the challenges experienced by shell fish breaking women, Arifatul explained that through this social service, many training activities will be needed for self-development, such as training in fish-based food processing and shell craft processing, so that the shells have marketable value. Regarding health problems such as itchy feet, he invited mothers to take advantage of the Free Health Check (CKG) program at the local health center. “When I peel shells, my feet hurt, they itch. You can go to the health center because the health center is free, Mom. So don’t hesitate, if you feel sick, dizzy or whatever, seek treatment immediately, so it’s detected early,” said Arifatul. For information, the Deputy Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), Veronica Tan, also attended this activity; Chairman of Seruni, Tri Tito Karnavian and members of the Seruni Red and White Cabinet; Plt.
