Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday encouraged the people of the hilly areas of Jammu division by mentioning the specialty of Sulai honey in the Mann Ki Baat programme. Mentioning Sulai honey of Ramban district of his parliamentary constituency in Mann Ki Baat, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and termed it as a great inspiration for the farmers of hilly districts. The Prime Minister said in the Mann Ki Baat program on Sunday that bees make a very special kind of honey from the flowers of wild basil called Sulai, which is found in the hilly areas of Jammu and Kashmir. This white colored honey is famous far and wide for its natural quality and medicinal properties. This unique honey is known as Ramban Sulai honey. It also got the Geographical Indication (GI) label a few years ago. It recognized its unique identity at the national level. He said that local farmers and beekeepers say that after getting the GI label, there has been a significant increase in demand for this honey. Experts believe that due to the special elements found in Sulai flowers, this honey is completely different from other honeys in terms of taste, color and medicinal properties. Ramban Sulai honey is now emerging as an important natural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir. It also gives new support to the local economy. On this, Dr Jitendra Singh said on Sunday that by mentioning the famous Sulai honey of Ramban in my Lok Sabha constituency in the Mann Ki Baat program today and talking about it getting the GI tag, the Prime Minister has boosted the enthusiasm of the people of this remote hilly district. This step is a great inspiration for local farmers, honey farmers and our traditional heritage. Meanwhile, BJP organized large-scale programs in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday to listen to Mann Ki Baat. Lok Sabha MP Jugal Kishore Sharma along with Organization Chief Secretary Ashok Kaul and MLA Chaudhary Vikram Randhawa listened to the 128th edition of the Prime Minister’s Mann Ki Baat program with party workers at booth number 137 of ward number 53 of Bahu Assembly. District President Naresh Singh Jasrotia was also present on this occasion. State Secretary General Baldev Singh Baloria along with workers and local people listened to the Mann Ki Baat program at booth number 95 in Shastri Nagar of RSpura-Jammu South Assembly. At the same time, Chief Secretary Sanjita Dogra also listened to the Prime Minister’s Mann Ki Baat program during the program organized under the Independent India Sankalp Abhiyan in Vijaypur Assembly of Samba District. BJP Vice President Rekha Mahajan, MLA Chandra Prakash Ganga and District Chief Asha Rani were also present in the programme. On the other hand, BJP general secretary Gopal Mahajan along with party leaders and workers listened to Mann Ki Baat in Majhin village of Bajalata mandal in Jammu district. Similar programs were also organized in other districts of Jammu division.
