Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto arrived in North Sumatra after a visit from Pakistan and Russia. Prabowo is scheduled to return to visit flood sites at various points in Aceh. According to detikcom monitoring, the PK-GIG presidential plane that Prabowo was traveling in landed at Kualanamu Airport at 02:50 WIB on Friday (12/12/2025). Prabowo got off the plane and was greeted by Minister of State Prasetyo Hadi, Head of the Presidential Communications Agency Angga Raka Prabowo, Governor of North Sumatra Bobby Nasution, and a number of regional officials. For your information, Prabowo has previously visited Pakistan and Russia. The following is a summary of Prabowo’s agenda for the two countries: Pakistan On Tuesday (9/12), Prabowo met with the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari. There were 7 MoUs signed in bilateral meetings with Prime Minister Sharif. These include: 1. Agreement between the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on Mutual Recognition of Higher Education Certificates and Degrees; 2. Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Government of Pakistan for the grant program on “The Indonesian Aid Scholarships”;3. MoU between SMESCO and SMEDA regarding strategic partnership in the facilitation of small and medium enterprises; 4. MoU between the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia and the Cabinet Division represented by National Archives Pakistan regarding Archives Cooperation;5. MoU between the National Narcotics Agency of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control of the Government of Pakistan on cooperation in the prevention and eradication of illegal trade in anesthetics, psychotropic drugs, new addictive drugs and their precursors;6. MoU between the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency of the Republic of Indonesia and the Pakistan Halal Authority in Halal Trade and Certification; and 7. MoU on cooperation in the health sector. Russia Meanwhile, in Russia on Wednesday (10/12/2025), Prabowo met with President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin Palace, Moscow. This meeting discussed a number of matters including economy and trade. “Our relations developed very consistently in the year we celebrated 75 years of diplomatic relations between our countries. The joint economic commission also worked well. Economic and trade relations also developed during the first 9 months of this year. The value of our trade increased by 17 percent,” Putin said. Apart from the economic and trade sectors, Russia also sees prospects for cooperation in the energy sector, including nuclear energy. Putin said Russia is ready to help if Indonesia decides to involve Russia in the development of civilian nuclear technology. “There are many prospects in the energy sector, including nuclear energy. I know that Indonesia has related plans and if Indonesia decides to involve Russia, we are always ready to help,” he said. Apart from that, the two leaders also discussed the potential for cooperation in the industrial and agricultural sectors. President Putin said that the issue of wheat was also discussed with President Prabowo. In the defense industry sector, President Putin called Indonesia a traditional partner of Russia. He highlighted military technical cooperation which is considered to be firmly underway, as well as the increasing number of Indonesian military personnel studying at Russian military institutions. “Military higher education institutions also accept many Indonesian military experts. We are ready to increase this number,” he continued. Putin also mentioned improving relations in the humanitarian and tourism sectors, supported by direct flight connections and a visa-free policy between citizens of the two countries. Regarding Indonesia’s role in the international world, President Putin expressed his appreciation for Indonesia’s full membership in BRICS, and touched on discussions regarding the possibility of free trade cooperation between Indonesia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
