Deputy Police Chief Releases Police Technology Book: Building the Foundations of a Modern Police – More Trust

Jakarta – Deputy Police Chief Komjen Dedi Prasetyo has released his book on police technology. The book explains that technological reform and modernization is an urgent need in the face of modern security challenges and increasingly complex demands for public services. At the Police Technology Book Review: “Automation in Modern Security Dynamics” in Lembang, the deputy police chief stressed that the National Police must move quickly to catch up with global technological developments. The National Police, together with Aslog, is preparing the foundation for a national security industry, so that Indonesia is not only a user of foreign technology, but is capable of producing police technology independently. “Technology is no longer an option, but a strategic necessity so that the National Police is more professional and precise in serving the community,” said Dedi in his statement, Friday (12/12/2025). The technology expo held at the same time presented several modern gadgets and innovations that the National Police has now started implementing. Starting from drones for monitoring and evacuation, tactical robots for dangerous situations, K9 robots for search, portable anti-jamming communication systems like WonTech, to data-based analytical platforms. This exhibition is clear evidence that the National Police does not just talk about transformation, but actually implements it in operational tasks. The respondents provided strategic insights that enriched the direction of change for the National Police. Technology Engineering, Hendy emphasized that global policing is moving from a reactive to a predictive approach. Amid the rise in digital crime, AI-based fraud and cross-border cyber threats, the National Police must develop data-based predictive technology and artificial intelligence in a gradual and realistic manner. He emphasized the need for a 10-year roadmap, strengthening regulations, protecting privacy and sustainable technological human resource development. “Technology must have a social impact on society, not just become jargon,” he said. In the panel discussion, national police leaders and external experts highlighted the importance of raising the professionalism of investigators whose certification levels still need to be significantly improved. This reform is fundamental in improving the quality of law enforcement and building public trust. The discussion also highlighted the need to strengthen Polri’s digital talents, prepare a tech-savvy generation, and expand academic and industrial collaboration so that Polri is not left behind by the speed of change of the current generation. From an academic perspective, Prof Kemal Nazaruddin Siregar considers the deputy chief of police’s book as an important foundation in building digital policing in Indonesia. He emphasized that the National Police must upgrade to become innovators and technology producers, not just users. However, he reminded that digital transformation must still maintain the humanistic side of the police. “Technology should strengthen public trust, not erode it,” said Kemal. The Book Review and Technology Expo activities in Lembang show the National Police’s strong commitment to take great leaps in technological transformation. The use of AI, robotics, drones, modern communication systems, strengthening data and increasing the capacity of investigators are concrete steps to realize a more responsive, professional and precise National Police. “This is a new era for the National Police. We are building the foundations of a police force that is modern, independent in technology and increasingly trusted by the public,” said the Deputy Chief of Police. (aud/isa)
