Kuantan Singingi – The Riau Regional Police (Polda) has shown full commitment to crack down on illegal gold mining activities that are destroying nature. This time, gold mining without a permit (PETI) in Tanalo River, Pantai Village, Kuantan Mudik District, Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regency was raided by the police. Head of Public Relations of the Riau Regional Police, Commissioner Anom Caribbeannto, said that the PETI control was the result of following up on public information. On Thursday (11/12), a joint team from the Riau Regional Police, Kuansing Police and Kuantan Mudik Koramil conducted an investigation at the relevant location. “As a result of investigations in the field, the joint team found evidence in the form of a dompeng in the Tanalo River,” Kombes Anom said, Friday (12/12/2025). Scroll TO CONTINUE CONTENT As a result of the investigation, the joint team found 15 rafts or dompeng which were then destroyed by burning them directly on the spot. Unfortunately, when the team arrived at the location, it was suspected that the perpetrator had fled. “The doping evidence was destroyed to prevent repeated actions by the perpetrators,” he added. Kombes Anom said the control of illegal gold mining will not stop here. The Riau Regional Police will continue to tighten the control of illegal gold mining. “We have also mapped the PETI locations that are still in operation and we will follow up,” he explained. The Riau Regional Police continues to carry out phased intensive coordination with the local district and sub-district governments in addition to routine patrols to prevent the resumption of PETI activities. “The perpetrator is currently still in the search phase,” he said. Meanwhile, Kuansing Police Chief AKBP Ricky Pratidiningrat said his party is fully committed to environmental conservation, in addition to continuing to step up law enforcement. To date, the Riau Regional Police and Regional Police have destroyed 492 floats that were a means of carrying out this illegal mining activity. (may/is)
