Wholesale inflation rate was -0.32 percent in November, prices of food products fell

New Delhi, December 15 (IANS). The wholesale inflation rate in November was -0.32 percent. The reason it is in negative territory is the low prices of food products, mineral oil, crude petroleum, natural gas, manufacturing of basic metals and electricity. This information was given by the Ministry of Trade and Industry on Monday. It was informed by the Ministry that the wholesale inflation rate in primary commodities was -2.93 percent year-on-year, while the wholesale inflation rate in fuel and energy was -2.27 percent year-on-year. Apart from this, the rate of food index in November was -2.60 percent. It was informed by the government that in November the wholesale inflation rate in minerals was 4.50 percent on a monthly basis, the wholesale inflation rate in food products was 2.5 percent on a monthly basis and the wholesale inflation rate in non-food items was 1.28 percent. At the same time, the wholesale inflation rate in crude oil and natural gas was -1.62 percent in November and October 2025. Earlier on Friday, the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation said that the retail inflation rate in India was 0.71 percent in November, which is 46 basis points higher than the October inflation rate of 0.25 percent. The ministry said the inflation rate in urban areas was 1.40 percent in November. At the same time, the inflation rate in rural areas was 0.10 percent. According to government data, food inflation rate was -3.91 percent in November. The food inflation rate in rural areas is -4.05 percent, while the food inflation rate in urban areas is -3.60 percent. Compared to the same period last year in November, there was an increase of 0.10 percent in the prices of cereals, 2.50 percent in the prices of meat and fish, 3.77 percent in the prices of eggs, 2.45 percent in the prices of milk and related products, 7.87 percent in the prices of oil and fat, 6.87 percent in the prices of sugar and related products, 6.00 percent and related products. 2.92 percent in the prices of non-alcoholic beverages.
