Keeping this in mind, the Food Safety Department in Pithoragarh has recently taken an important step regarding Patanjali’s ghee. Actually Patanjali was fined for not getting ghee as per the standards. In Pithoragarh, in 2020, the food safety department took a sample of Patanjali’s ghee for testing. The sample failed the first test. After this the company sent the sample for retesting but even in the second test it was found that the ghee was not up to the standards. After this, the case was registered in the court. Subsequently, the court imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the manufacturing company Patanjali, Rs 25 thousand on the supplier and Rs 15 thousand on the seller of the shop where the sample was taken. Sample taken from Patanjali store: According to the case, senior food safety officer Dilip Jain took a sample of Patanjali’s ghee from the Karan General Store in Kasni in October 2020. The investigation was conducted in the government laboratory of Rudrapur. During testing, the sample did not meet the standards and adulteration was found in it. The manufacturing company Patanjali Ayurveda Limited has raised questions about the investigation report. After this the sample was sent to the National Lab in Ghaziabad. The sample did not succeed there either. After this, the food safety officer filed a case in court against the producing company, distributor and shopkeeper. The supplier will also be fined. The decision on this came last Thursday. The court of Additional District Magistrate Yogendra Singh delivered the verdict after hearing all the parties and seeing the evidence. The court imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the manufacturing company Patanjali, Rs 25 thousand on the supplier Brahma Accessories, Dharchula Road, Pithoragarh and Rs 15 thousand on the seller Karan General Store. The Department of Food Safety said that this step is important for consumers. Officials have warned that if any company or shopkeeper sells items that are against the standards in the future, strict action will be taken.
