The Directorate of Public Instruction has issued orders to the JDs and DEOs of all the districts and directed them to appoint a nodal officer in each school. According to the order, teachers will have to give information about stray dogs roaming in or around the school premises to the dog catcher of the Gram Panchayat, District Panchayat or Municipal Corporation. After this, with the help of the local administration, necessary steps will be taken to prevent the entry of dogs into the school. As soon as this order was issued, anger spread among the teachers. Teachers Association expressed its opposition. Chhattisgarh Teachers Association district unit termed the order as impractical and against the dignity of teachers. District President Dilip Sahu, State Organization Secretary Birbal Deshmukh, District Convener Ramkishore Kharanshu, Kamta Prasad Sahu, Shiv Shandilya, Virendra Dewangan, Nilesh Deshmukh, Pawan Joshi, Kantu Ram Chandel, District Secretary Narendra Sahu and other officials jointly filed a protest. It is inappropriate to give responsibility such as monitoring dogs. He says teachers are already burdened with many non-teaching tasks, in such a situation it is inappropriate to give responsibility such as monitoring stray dogs. The association argues that monitoring and controlling dogs is the job of the local administration, which is not right to be imposed on teachers. He said that teaching work in schools is already being disrupted and such additional responsibilities affect the working capacity of the teaching community.
