Andre Rosiade supports the construction of the Mount Nago Bridge with central funds

Jakarta – Vice Chairman of Commission VI DPR RI Andre Rosiade directly inspected the condition of the Mount Nago Bridge in Kapalo Koto Village, Pauh District, Padang City yesterday. The bridge was destroyed and washed away after being hit by flash floods at the end of last November. Roads, irrigation canals and dozens of houses along the Batang Kuranji River were badly damaged due to the strong water. During his visit, Andre also invited the head of the West Sumatra National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN), Elsa Putra Friandi, to ensure that handling is carried out immediately. He emphasized that the river flow, which is now increasing, must first be normalized before the bridge is rebuilt. Andre admitted that he was surprised to see the extent of the impact of the flash floods in Pauh. Although there were no casualties, hundreds of houses were swept away and sustained extensive damage. This is not only a problem of roads and bridges, but is also related to rivers and irrigation. We hope that we can immediately request the budget from the central government, because it is impossible by handling the Padang City in two centers,” said Andre. his statement, Saturday (13/12/2025). On this occasion, Andre immediately contacted the Head of BWSS V Naryo Widodo to request a field inspection and confirm completion steps. “We hope that the coordination between BPJN and BWSS can provide a comprehensive solution. The impact is very big for the Pauh community, and the central government must step in to solve it,” he emphasized. Meanwhile, residents still living in the area said they were worried about the potential for subsequent flash floods to hit their homes again. The head of Pauh district, Titin Masfertin, also hopes that Andre’s arrival at the ward can encourage an accelerated resolution of this problem. He said the water conditions were still fragile and could threaten residents’ homes at any time. Apart from that, irrigation flows covered by sand and mud stopped water flow and disrupted community activities. “Thank you Mr. Andre Rosiade for coming with the head of the office of the Ministry of Public Works. Hopefully this disaster will pass soon and residents will feel comfortable again. Do not let this incident happen again. We hope that the bridge can be rebuilt, as well as the repair of roads and irrigation,” said Titin. On the other hand, the head of West Sumatra BPJN, Elsa Putra Friandi, said that his team will immediately go to assess damage to roads and bridges in the Mount Nago area. “We see that the situation is quite serious because the river flow has widened a lot. We will conduct a survey and coordinate with BWSS to formulate a solution,” he concluded. For your information, Andre was accompanied during his visit by the chairman of the Gerindra faction of the Padang City DPRD Wahyu Hidayat and the chairman of Commission II of the Padang DPRD Rachmad Wijaya.
