Eight electricity thefts were detected in a campaign under Gandhinagar (Amhat) electricity substation of electricity distribution division Sadar. Against whom the Junior Engineer filed a case in terms of the Electricity Theft Act. The massive campaign launched to stop electricity theft has created a stir. Junior Engineer VK Singh said that two cases each were detected in Maharikawan and Katra Patelwa areas and one case each in Bhuwar Niranjanpur, Pikaurabakhsh, Malitola and Kanjar Tola. During the campaign, the team found that Dhrychnadra Pandey and Gokaran Nath Shukla of Maharikawan were consuming electricity by bypassing the meter by cutting the cable in front of the meter. In Katra Patelwa area, Jaswant and Siraju were caught stealing electricity by bypassing the meter. Similarly, in Bhuwar Niranjanpur, the team found Pankaj consuming electricity from Katia connection at his house. The team caught Iqbal in Bata Gali of Mohalla Pikaura Baksh, Rakesh in Mali Tola and Mukhfuddin of Kanjar Tola bypassing the meter and stealing electricity. The department filed a case under the Electricity Theft Act. The junior engineer said a continuous campaign was being conducted to stop electricity theft.
