Jakarta – Chairman of the DPD RI Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin emphasized that the film industry has great potential to encourage local economic growth. Sultan sees the film industry as a bridge between creativity and strengthening the regional economy. “DPD RI sees that the film industry is a bridge that connects creativity with the regional economy. Therefore, I believe that: When the national film industry progresses, the regional economy will also progress,” he said in a written statement, Sunday (30/11/2025). He made this statement at the opening of JAFF MARKET 2025 with the theme “Promotion of the National Film Industry – Advanced Regional Economy” Jogja Expo Center, Saturday (29/11). He explained that every work, narrative and image born from the creative process will contribute to the creative economy ecosystem at the local level. “Indonesia has capital that never runs out: cultural diversity, natural beauty and the uniqueness of its people. This is a concrete step towards cross-regional cooperation – cooperation that maintains a balance between artistic idealism and industrial sustainability,” he emphasized. Sultan also encouraged filmmakers and content creators to continue working and present new perspectives that can compete at the regional and global level. “Make Indonesia not just a filming location, but a source of imagination that never goes out. We want to see new Indonesian names appear stronger on the Asian stage, even the world,” he explained. He emphasized that the creative economy sector in the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision has a strategic position as a support for the future. Strengthening the film industry is an important part of this agenda. Finally, the Sultan expressed his appreciation to President Prabowo Subianto for encouraging the development of cinemas in all districts/cities through Danantara. “We appreciate President Prabowo Subianto’s decision to encourage Danantara to build cinemas in all districts/cities throughout Indonesia. This is a breath of fresh air for the community and regional government, as well as of course for players in the Indonesian film industry,” he concluded.
