Bhubaneswar, November 24 (IANS). Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday said his government is committed to provide all basic amenities, opportunities and assistance to the people of Odisha. After listening to the problems of a large number of applicants who had gathered at the Chief Minister’s grievance cell here, Majhi while talking to the media said that the state government is always trying to make Odisha a prosperous and developed Odisha by serving the people of Odisha. A large number of people were present in the camp. More than 3,000 people came to submit their petitions before the chief minister. CM Majhi said that around 1,000 people had pre-registered while thousands of people turned up during the day to solve their problems. The Chief Minister first met 34 disabled and seriously ill applicants and listened to their problems and took their complaints. He instructed the officers present to take immediate action. CM Majhi said that in the last 14 grievance hearings, about 12,950 petitions were received, out of which about 12,371 cases (about 96 percent) were disposed of. Meanwhile, the process to resolve the remaining 579 complaint petitions is going on. He reiterated that the government is committed to addressing the concerns of the people within a reasonable time frame. This time limit is usually within 100 days. The chief minister said that during this period issues related to land disputes, road access, shortage of schools and teachers, and other important civic problems were raised. He said: “It is important to listen directly to the people. We are trying our best to ensure justice and timely resolution.” Majhi further said such public grievance forums help restore people’s confidence that their problems can be resolved at the state level.
