Cross-Agency Cooperation, PLN accelerates Aceh’s electricity restoration

Jakarta – Efforts to restore Aceh’s electricity after the flash flood and landslide disaster continue to be accelerated by cross-sector cooperation. The central government, Aceh Provincial Government (Pemprov), TNI, Polri and PLN are working together to ensure that emergency management is effective so that electricity services can be quickly restored to affected communities. The Indonesian Minister of Defense (Menhan) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin stressed that the distribution of logistical aid will be deployed, as many areas are still isolated and really need help. “The government’s main priority at the moment is to support logistics for the community, from food, personal needs such as clothes, to medicine. All aid will be distributed to affected points with the help of TNI defense equipment,” says Sjafrie in a written statement, Sunday (30/11/2025). Sjafrie appreciated PLN’s quick steps in the field, while encouraging the recovery process to continue to be optimized. “The first step is to strengthen air mobility. We will concentrate all logistics,” said Sjafrie. “Electricity must be turned on immediately in a short time. We will increase helicopter power. Land and air evacuation must be accelerated,” he continued. Indonesian Interior Minister (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian has also shown support to speed up Aceh’s recovery by sending a special team to the affected areas to help speed up handling. He emphasized the importance of stabilizing public services, including electricity services for the community. “The need for electricity is very crucial. We together with the regional government, TNI, Polri and PLN continue to accelerate restoration to ensure that affected communities can enjoy electricity services immediately,” said Tito. In line, Darmawan Prasodjo, president of PLN, said that his party continues to mobilize the best resources and personnel from units across Indonesia to restore the electricity network in the affected areas. Darmawan also continues to work with all parties to encourage the acceleration of post-disaster electricity recovery in Aceh. “We received instructions from the President that all PLN forces must be mobilized to help with disaster recovery, both flash floods and landslides that occurred in Aceh. For this reason, according to the President’s directions, we are all working together,” said Darmawan. In the recovery process, PLN continues to cooperate with the Aceh Provincial Government, the Iskandar Muda Regional Military Command (Kodam), the Sultan Iskandar Muda Air Force (AU) Base, the Aceh Regional Police (Polda), and the Aceh Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) under the leadership of the central government. One of the decisive steps was to send emergency tower units from Jakarta to Banda Aceh with the Indonesian Air Force’s Hercules aircraft. Apart from that, several units were also transported by land and sea with the support of the Indonesian Army (AD) and Police ranks. Darmawan expressed his appreciation to the National Police for helping ensure smooth communication amid network outages. From a logistical perspective, the TNI AD facilitates the delivery of materials using trucks and opens access to affected areas that are still almost impossible to pass. In fact, helicopters were deployed to transport tower materials to points that were impossible to reach by land. “We had to use a helicopter to bring materials to the site. There was a helipad that needed to be opened, and there were troops from the TNI and Police helping,” said Darmawan. “This solidarity is a great force to accelerate recovery,” he continued. Not only infrastructure repair, humanitarian support is also collected. Command posts, public kitchens and other support facilities were built together as a form of inter-agency solidarity. “All components of Indonesia’s forces are moving together. With the fighting spirit of the PLN team, Regional Government, TNI, Polri and the community, we feel extraordinary unity,” said Darmawan. “May Allah SWT make all these efforts easier, so that Aceh can recover quickly,” he concluded.
