Cyclone ‘Ditwah’: Additional helpline service started for Indians stranded in Sri Lanka

Colombo, November 30 (IANS). Cyclone Ditvaha caused great devastation in Sri Lanka. Amidst this devastation, the Indian Air Force is conducting international level relief and rescue operations in Sri Lanka. In this hour of crisis, the Indian High Commissioner has started an additional helpline service for Indians stranded in Sri Lanka. Indian High Commissioner in Colombo informed that in view of the prevailing situation, an additional emergency helpline has been launched to assist Indian nationals in need in Sri Lanka. The Indian High Commissioner in Colombo is offering all possible help to the stranded Indian citizens. The High Commissioner said that in view of the current situation, an additional emergency helpline has been launched to assist Indian nationals in need in Sri Lanka. All possible assistance is being provided to Indian nationals stranded in Sri Lanka. These numbers include +94 77 372 7832 (Whatsapp available) and +94 77 122 9026 (Whatsapp available). The Indian Air Force had earlier given information about the humanitarian aid sent to Sri Lanka. The Indian Air Force said on social media platform that the Indian Air Force helicopters in the day-long operations were reported to have rescued a total of 45 stranded passengers, including 6 seriously injured and 4 infants, and evacuated them safely to Colombo. It included 12 Indian nationals and more than 30 foreign nationals from countries such as Germany, South Africa, Slovenia, the UK, Poland, Belarus, Iran, Australia, Pakistan and Bangladesh, as well as Sri Lankan nationals. To bolster ground relief efforts, the Indian Air Force has also airlifted 57 Sri Lankan Army personnel to the affected area to assist in rescue and evacuation operations, the Air Force said.
