New Delhi, December 18 (IANS). In many parts of the country, cold has been increasing for the past few days, due to which life has been affected. To escape the dense fog and cold, people were seen warming themselves with bonfires on roads and intersections. Fog has been seen since morning in many districts including Delhi, Greater Noida, Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Varanasi. Due to fog, the speed of vehicles on the roads has slowed down. Drivers experienced many problems with commuting due to low visibility; Vehicles are seen crawling. Due to the sudden change in the weather, an increase in cold was also felt. A drop was recorded in the maximum temperature due to which people felt the sharp cold. The effort to build night shelters in the city has begun. Nowadays, the night shelter in Greater Noida has become a center of relief for the poor and needy people amidst the bitter cold. Here, together with shelter, necessary facilities are provided to the people affected by cold. To test the arrangements, top officials are inspecting the night shelters and taking stock of the situation. A resident of Greater Noida spoke to news agency IANS, “The facilities at the night shelter are very good. We got blankets, pillows and beds to rest. Everything is clean and well organized and there are no major problems. The arrangements here are very good. The SDM also came in the night. We have not faced any problems, everything is fine. Overall, the arrangements are very good.” He said that arrangements have been made for separate and safe accommodation for men and women in the night shelter. It provides a safe environment for women and the elderly. During the inspection, the officials also directed that hot water facilities should be provided regularly in the night shelters. A Delhi resident told news agency IANS that due to heavy pollution, there is a constant burning sensation in the eyes. In the morning, visibility is blurred and the cough is accompanied by expectoration of dirt and mucus. We are facing many health problems and commuting has become very difficult. Its greatest impact is felt by everyone, including children and the elderly. The police administration appealed to the drivers to be careful on the highways and main roads.
