DKI Transport Department adds 4 tourist boats to Seribu Islands during Christmas and New Year

Jakarta – The DKI Jakarta Transport Agency (Dishub) has added a fleet of ships to serve tourists bound for the Thousand Islands during the 2025 Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holidays. However, ship deviations are still adjusted to weather conditions for the safety of passengers. Head of DKI Jakarta Transport Service Syafrin Liputo said that during Christmas this year, DKI Jakarta Transport Agency added four ships to support sea transport services to Seribu Islands. The fleet is ready to be operated to serve people who want to travel. “Of course, we have added four ships this year and in principle they are ready to serve the public for those traveling to the Thousand Islands,” Syafrin said at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday (17/12/2025). DKI Transport Agency will coordinate with KSOP and refer to weather forecasts from BMKG before deciding on ship operations. “For departure to Seribu Islands we adapt to the situation and weather conditions. In line with BMKG forecasts,” he said. Syafrin gave an example, the DKI Jakarta Transport Agency temporarily stopped shipping services to Seribu Islands for the past two days because weather conditions made it impossible for shipping. “For the past two days, after we coordinated with KSOP, our shipping service to Seribu Islands was stopped because the weather did not allow it,” he explained. The DKI Transport Agency urges people who wish to go on holiday to Seribu Islands to always monitor weather information and ship departure schedules through official channels. Passenger safety is the main priority in marine transport services during the Christmas holidays. (clock/yld)
