Udhampur, November 26 (IANS). Strict police action continues against drug peddlers in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district. Police on Wednesday seized the immovable property worth around Rs 70 lakh from notorious drug peddler Tariq Hussain under the NDPS Act. Accused Tariq Hussain son of Shah Mohammad resident of Chak (Udhampur) was involved in drug trade for long. During the investigation of FIR No. 135/2025 (Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act) registered against him at Police Station Rahambal this year, it was revealed that his luxury house located at Khasra No. 1624/1625 in Chak area was built, completely built with the black money of drugs. After collecting solid evidence, the investigating officer issued an order to seize this property under Section 68(f) of the NDPS Act. The police team reached the spot on Wednesday morning and put up a seizure board on the property and completed all the legal procedures. Police said to break the drug mafia’s back, we are constantly seizing their illegal assets. Tariq Hussain pushed the youth into drug addiction for a long time. Now this house will have some of its hard-earned money go to the government coffers. It is noteworthy that in the year 2025, the Udhampur Police has so far seized illegal assets worth more than Rs 12.70 crore under the NDPS Act. This includes houses, shops, land and luxury vehicles. The police have made it clear that every cent earned from the drug trade will not be spared. Police officers say that in the coming days, property of more major drug smugglers will be seized.
