Dual responsibility on the shoulders of IPS Praveen Kumar, now commanding BSF along with ITBP; Daljit Singh Chaudhary retired

IPS officer Praveen Kumar has taken over the charge from the Director General of the Border Security Force. He took over the charge of DG of BSF on Sunday. ITBP DG Praveen Kumar has taken additional charge from the Director General of the Border Security Force. BSF is the largest border guarding force in the world. Daljit Singh Chaudhary was the DG of BSF till now but he retired today. In such a situation, the responsibility was given to Praveen Kumar. Praveen Kumar is a 1993 batch officer of Indian Police Service West Bengal cadre. In his career spanning 32 years, he held several important assignments in both his cadre, West Bengal and the Intelligence Bureau. Earlier on September 30, IPS officer Praveen Kumar assumed the charge of Director General of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP). Praveen Kumar has been awarded the Indian Police Medal (IPM), President’s Police Medal (PPM), Police (Special Duties) Medal, Police Internal Security Service Medal and Exceptional Information Efficiency Medal. Daljit Singh Chaudhary received four bravery medals. During Operation Sindoor, BSF was led by Daljit Singh Chaudhary. BSF personnel received two Vir Chakras and 16 gallantry medals for their role in the cross-border operations after the Pahalgam terror attack. Let us tell you that the Border Security Force (BSF) is the largest border security force in the world with around 2,70,000 personnel. While ITBP is a central police organization. ITBP soldiers are deployed on the India-China border. As head of both ITBP and BSF, Praveen Kumar will now oversee the two major border security forces and is responsible for managing both the Himalayan (India-China) and western and northern (India-Pakistan and India-Bangladesh) borders. The responsibility of both the departments will remain with him until a permanent successor is appointed or further orders are issued.
