Symbolic Jagran Correspondent, Mathura. The Election Commission of India has taken an important decision and has given top priority to the purity and transparency of the election process. The Commission has issued instructions to reorganize open meetings at all polling stations (booths) under the Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Roll (SIR) campaign. Its purpose is to make the electoral roll completely error-free and maintain the confidence of the public. Remove advertisement Read-only news Earlier, public meetings were organized on December 6 and 7 at every polling station in the district. Now these special meetings will again be organized at each polling station. CAA will play an important role here. The CAA will read out the current voter list in the presence of local elite citizens, village chiefs, councilors and polling agents or representatives of political parties. This entire process will be done in public so that the possibility of any kind of irregularities or bias can be eliminated. Often the names of people who have died or changed their place are included in the electoral roll, as a result of which there is a possibility of false voting. Through these open meetings such names will be identified and removed from the list. There are around four lakh such voters in the district who fall under this category. Apart from this, the process of adding those eligible citizens whose names are not yet included in the list will also be started on the spot. Applications will also be accepted to correct any error in name, age or address. The administration has put in all its strength to make this campaign successful. Clear instructions have been given to all supervisors and CAAs to take seriously all claims and objections received from the public. It will be mandatory to dispose of these applications within a set time limit. An appeal was also made to the general public to actively participate in these meetings and cooperate with the administration to correct the electoral roll. Although the district administration has not yet fixed any time limit for open meetings, but open meetings will surely be arranged in the last two or three days of filling the summary forms.
