New Delhi, December 17 (IANS). CSK spent big on Karthik Sharma in the mini-auction held in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday for IPL 2026. This uncapped wicket-keeper batsman was bought by CSK for Rs 14.20 crore. Karthik ranks first with Prashant Veer as the most expensive uncapped player in IPL history. Prashant was also bought by CSK in the last auction for Rs 14.20 crore. Karthik Sharma is very happy and excited after being a part of a big and successful franchise like CSK in IPL. The biggest reason for his happiness is MS Dhoni, with whom he will get a chance to play. Speaking on JioHotstar, Kartik Sharma said, “Firstly a special thanks to all my family and friends, without their support I don’t think I would have achieved this milestone. My entire family is very happy. Everyone is celebrating and dancing.” Karthik said, “I am very excited to play with Mahendra Singh Dhoni and learn from him. When the bidding started, I was afraid that I might miss out. But as the bidding progressed, I started crying. Even after the bidding was over, I kept crying. I was filled with a sense of happiness. I have no words to express my feeling.” Karthik trained with the CSK team last season. Karthik is a wicket keeper batsman. He is known for his excellent batting in the middle order. This 19-year-old batsman scored 334 runs in 12 T20 matches at a strike rate of 164. During this period, 28 sixes came from his bat. His ability to hit sixes also made him popular in Ranji Trophy.
