As part of its strict drive to ensure smooth use of public parking spaces, the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has taken decisive action against second-hand car vendors of the Sunday car market who are violating the rules in paid parking at Manimajra. Remove Advertisement Read Only News During a recent inspection, it was found that many vendors involved in the Sunday Car Market did not remove their vehicles from the designated spot even after the market was over. Furthermore, vehicles were parked without the mandatory paid parking slips, which not only led to the illegal use of public space, but also disrupted the regular parking system. On the instructions of MC Commissioner Amit Kumar, the municipal enforcement team conducted a surprise inspection at the Manimajra paid parking lot and seized 12 vehicles violating the rules. In terms of the rules, the vehicles were seized after the vehicle owners or their representatives failed to show valid parking slips. The Municipal Corporation clarified that the Sunday car market is an authorized activity, but it is mandatory for all its participants to follow the prescribed standards, including the timely removal of vehicles and compliance with the paid parking procedure. This strict action is an important step towards preventing abuse of public parking spaces, combating illegal business activities and maintaining the smooth functioning of the city’s paid parking system. The Municipal Corporation said that further action will be taken against those who violate the rules under applicable laws.
