Jakarta – Head of the DKI Jakarta Child Protection Empowerment and Population Control (DPPAPP) Service, Iin Mutmainah, revealed that the number of cases of violence against women and children in Jakarta reached 1,917 cases in 2025. This figure is almost equal to the total reports throughout 2024, even though it only went in at the end of November. “The trend is increasing every year. This month alone is almost the same as the end of last year, so the trend is indeed increasing,” Iin said at Jakarta City Hall, Saturday (22/11/2025). SCROLL TO CONTINUE CONTENT Iin explained that the victims of violence this year were dominated by minors. The number reached 53%. “53% is the composition of the number of child cases, both girls and boys under 18,” he said. According to Iin, the increase in the number of reports also shows the increasing public awareness of reporting. The DKI Provincial Government has several complaint channels, both offline and online. “We have UPT PPA, Puspa, mobile counseling services and 44 complaint post points in sub-districts or RPTRAs, each with counselors and lawyers,” he explained. He believes that people are now braver to speak out about the violence they experience. All recorded data, continued Iin, are from direct reports. “Public awareness becomes more courageous to speak. It increases knowledge, they are brave enough to convey things that happen or are seen in the field,” he said. “The basis is a complaint. If the victim does not complain or no one reports it, we cannot follow up,” he added. The DKI Provincial Government is also currently preparing a review of Regional Regulation 8/2011 on the Prevention of Acts of Violence against Women and Children. The review will divide the regulations into two new regional regulations that will be discussed in 2026, namely the Regional Regulation on the Protection of Women and the Regional Regulation on the Provision of a Child-Friendly City/Regency. “Perda 8/2011 was made before the TPKS Act was issued in 2022. So later the contents of the TPKS Act will be included in the review.” he added. (clock/deck)
