However, the company has not yet clarified which passengers will be considered “severely affected”. In a statement, the company said, “IndiGo is saddened that some of our customers traveling on December 3, 4 and 5, 2025 were stranded for several hours at some airports, and many of them were badly affected due to pressure. We will provide a travel voucher of Rs 10,000 to these badly affected customers.” It further said, “These vouchers can be used for any future IndiGo journey within the next 12 months.” IndiGo clarified that this compensation is different from the compensation it had promised to passengers whose flights were canceled within 24 hours of departure, as per government guidelines. That compensation was between Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000. Meanwhile, according to sources, Indigo canceled 60 flights from Bengaluru airport today. However, on Thursday the airline announced plans to operate more than 1,950 flights. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is keeping a close watch on the airline after it faced massive disruptions in services due to planning errors related to the implementation of the new pilot and crew duty rules. “IndiGo has canceled 60 flights from Bengaluru airport – 32 inbound and 28 outbound,” the source said. In related news, IndiGo CEO Peter Elbers has been summoned by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to submit a full report, including data and updates on the recent operational disruptions, and will appear before the regulator at 3pm on Thursday. The airline said in a statement it expects to operate more than 1,950 flights on Thursday. The airline currently operates more than 2,200 flights daily across its national and domestic network under its current winter schedule, which the government has already reduced by 10 percent to help the airline stabilize its operations and reduce cancellations, which reached 1,600 on December 5. On Wednesday, IndiGo canceled 220 flights from three major airports—with the largest number being Delhi and M37 airports. which takes place in Delhi. Speaking about the crisis for the first time in 10 days on Wednesday, IndiGo chairman Vikram Mehta apologized for the chaos and blamed a combination of internal and external unexpected events for the large-scale disruptions. “These include minor technical glitches, schedule changes related to the onset of the winter season, adverse weather conditions, increased congestion in the aviation system, and implementation and operations under the updated crew list rules,” Mehta said.
